The Method Kusum Modak

It’s ultimately a dialogue that involves surrender and receptivity, self-knowledge and respect. Mixing the procedures of traditional Indian massage with the postures inspired by Yoga, the Kusum Modak Method – Ayurvedic Yoga Therapeutic Massage℠ is respected by specialists in health and well-being across the world and recognized as one of the most comprehensive therapeutic techniques.

With wisdom, master Kusum Modak united two millenarian Indian sciences to create her own method, capable of treating different diseases and preserving health. The complete method counts on over 120 manoeuvres, which improves our physiological system, and generates bodily, mental, and emotional transformations.

Slow and deep touches characterise the method and in combination with natural oils and powders extracted from the medicinal plant cálamo, professionals perform deep stimulation using a combination of glides, traction, and pressure with both the hands and feet. This stimulates the circulation and prepares the musculature and joints for the extensions, flexions, and torsions.

This intense work, combined with conscious breathing, bestows a state of meditation and recuperation of our vital energy, also known as prana. An indescribable sensation of well-being swells when tense muscles relax, the joints gain space, and the mind is quiet.

Our influences

B.K.S Iyengar Still present in master Kusum Modak’s firm and precise guidance, is the influence of master Iyengar. Kusum’s journey in Yoga as a disciple of one of the most respected Yoga instructors in the world, and as an assistant in the Iyengar Institute’s medical classes was incredibly disciplined. It was twenty years spent learning about the science of the postures, the mind, and the body.

Limaye

At the end of the 1980’s, master Kusum met the Indian master Limaye, an influential propagator of the traditional and popular Indian massage, derived from Ayurveda. It was in the simplicity and breadth of knowledge of this mentor that set master Kusum onto the path of corporal therapy and the care of others.
